Fernando Llorente Torres, was born on February 26th 1985 in Pamplona (Navarra), but, although he was given birth at a private hospital where his aunt was working, he grew up in Rincón de Soto (La Rioja), where a bit part of his family comes from.
Since he was a child, he was very talented for football. There was not any children’s team in Rincón de Soto, so he had to start playing in Navarra in a team called Funes. Shortly after, he became a player at River Ebro’s – his village’s local team – lower league where he played for a year and a half.
In 1996, José María Amorrortu, former football player and coach for Athletic Club of Bilbao realised Fernando was going to be a very good player so he took him on the Athletic Club in spite of Fernando’s other important offers to play in other clubs, that he finally refused. During his stay at Athletic Club’s lower leagues, Fernando kept a high profile due to both, his very good physical condition and his technical skills. Following here started his football career in major teams like Athletic Bilbao, the Spanish national team (World Champion in 2010 and European Champion in 2012), or Juventus where he is today and he has won two Scudetto, the Italian Cup (2014/2015) and two Supercoppa of Italy (2013 and 2015).
In 2015, Fernando Llorente signed for spanish club Sevilla FC for the next 3 seasons.
